Why I Paint

Me at age 5  (very fashionable garments)

I remember seeing my first oil painting when I was 4 years. It was of three woman in a dark forest with rich and velvety colors. It brought to life a mysterious,  captivating and magical forest scene. It sparked a desire in me (to paint) that never died.

In my school years I drew and painted whenever I had the chance and received recognition for being good at it. In second grade (the same age as my son right now) the assignment was to paint a large sun. I painted a huge, orange rose. My mother still has it. I remember always wanting to do something unique and out of the ordinary.

That feeling has never left me - to bring something into the world that has never been seen before. It's a very exciting feeling…there is nothing like it.

Today I create art with a unique style with dramatic, strong colors and thick and mysterious textures.  With every brush stroke, scrape of the palette knife, drip of paint, I create a new world that goes in and out of reality, a place between what is real, what is imaginary and what is possible.

When my work goes out into a new home I know it makes that space better. It adds something special to a room, completing it and gives inspiration and joy to those that see it. I am grateful to be able to do that.
